Behind the Blog Blogger Spotlight: Homemade & Yummy. These blogger spotlights are a great chance to find out a little bit about the blogger behind the blog!
I am excited to introduce you to Gloria from Homemade & Yummy. Her motto is one that resonates with us. I’m paraphrasing here, but basically she believes food doesn’t have to be complicated but it does have to be yummy. We couldn’t agree more! She shares fun new recipes as well as tried and true. Sit back and get to know her a little bit better!

How long have you been blogging, and why did you start?
I have been blogging for almost 3 years. After I retired, I knew I wanted to still do something (hopefully enjoyable) to earn an income. Since I love to cook, starting a blog was the perfect choice. Working for myself was the next move.
Do you have a secret recipe you aren’t willing to share?
I would say no, but I have not shared all my secret recipes yet either. I come for a Ukrainian background, and for some reason my mom and baba (especially baba) NEVER wrote down their recipes correctly. Trying to reproduce some of them have been a challenge. Sometimes I only have list of ingredients to work with, with no cooking instructions.
That is another reason I stated my blog. My kids (and grandkids) will be able to reproduce my recipes since they will have all the information they need.
If you were stranded on a dessert island, with only one food, what would you choose?
This is funny because anyone that knows me well, also knows the answer to this question. I have made it known that if I only could have 3 things to eat they would be: cheese, bread and wine!! So if I had to choose one it would be cheese.
How did you come up with your blog’s name?
Well, this is a great question. When I decided to start my business, I asked my husband (who is biggest fan and supporter), “How would you describe my food?”. His answer was homemade and yummy. So, Homemade & Yummy was born!
What are you passionate about besides food?
Family!! I am a wife, mom and gramma. Spending time with family and creating wonderful memories to treasure is what life is about. Food just happens to be a big part of that too.
What is your favourite food to make?
Ok, this might sound nuts to some people, but I LOVE making ALL the huge family dinners. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, birthdays, they are always at our house. In the summer, the backyard BBQ parties are always popular too.
What is your favourite thing to order when you are out to eat?
Duck! I love duck, so I study the menu to see if there is anything with duck. Egg rolls, pasta, duck breast. If there is duck, that is what I order for sure.
Who are some of your favourite bloggers?
What are some of your favourite recipes on your blog?

Warm Potato Salad with Dill & Smoked Salmon
What is your favourite thing about blogging?
My philosophy is “Food doesn’t have to be complicated, BUT it does have to taste good”. My goal is to get people in the kitchen and have fun with no stress. Food is meant to be enjoyed.
