Behind the Blog Blogger Spotlight: Inside the Rustic Kitchen. It is time for another installment of Behind the Blogger where we get to know more about the people who create and share all of this beautiful food with us. Today we are in for a real treat! I am so excited to introduce you to Emily from Inside the Rustic Kitchen. If you like Italian food (and who doesn’t?!) you are going to love her!
She is busy whipping up authentic Italian and Italian inspired food right there in Tuscany. Now aren’t you wishing this was a field trip rather than a virtual meet and great? Me too! Maybe we can arrange that next time. What do you think?
In the meantime we will have to settle for a virtual visit and dream of the real thing. I can’t wait to introduce you, so I will pipe down and let Emily do the talking:

How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I started my blog in 2014 although I had no clue what I was doing it was more of a food diary back then and I only updated it every couple of months. For the past year and a half I’ve been blogging full time and absolutely love it, it’s become an obsession.
It all started when I was talking with my boyfriend about my dream of one day writing a cookbook. He suggested I start a blog and within an hour I had set it up.
Do you have a secret recipe you aren’t willing to share?
No, I love food too much not to share it with others!
If you were stranded on a desert island with only one food, what would you choose?
If I was choosing with my head I would go with watermelon so I could have something to drink and eat in one go but if I was choosing with my heart I’d go with cheese, probably taleggio or gorgonzola!
How did you come up with your blog’s name?
Me and my boyfriend Nathan were thinking of names for the blog and we knew we wanted it to have a rustic theme because that’s the kind of food we love to cook. Rustic Kitchen was already taken so after some thought Nathan suggested Inside The Rustic Kitchen and I love it.
What are you passionate about besides food?
Since starting my blog I have loved learning all about photography, it’s something I had never thought about trying before but I love it, there’s so much to learn but it’s exciting.
I also really enjoy learning Italian, since I live in Italy it’s become a big part of my life and being able to connect and communicate with people from another country and culture is a wonderful experience.
What is your favorite food to make?
I think it would have to be pizza whether it’s making them at home or outside in a wood fired oven it’s always so much fun and the whole family can get involved.
What is your favorite thing to order when you are out to eat?
Fritto Misto. Fried calamari and giant shrimp in a crispy batter with a big squeeze of lemon juice or wild boar ragu with tagliatelle because it’s very hard to buy to make at home.
Who are some of your favorite bloggers?
I love Half Baked Harvest by Tieghan Gerard, her photos are always so gorgeous and her recipes are so unique and Oggi Pane E Salami, Domani by Sonai Monagheddu it’s an Italian food blog with amazing recipes and stunning photos.
What are some of your favorite recipes on your blog?
Hmm that’s a hard one but right now I can’t get enough of my basil pesto pizza with roasted cherry tomatoes. I also love my pumpkin shaped bread rolls they are so cute and so much fun to make. Pappa al pomodoro (Tuscan bread soup) and Parmigiana di Melanzane are a couple of my all-time favourites.
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
I love the community, talking to other bloggers that love food and hearing from my readers. When I started my blog I never thought people would really read it so when someone sends me a message about how much they loved a certain recipe it really means a lot and makes all the hard work worth while.
