How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I started my blog 2 years ago at the urging of my older sister. She had been planting the seed for awhile that I should start a blog because we are a family of adamant cooks, I’ve always loved to write, and do photography.
Do you have a secret recipe you aren’t willing to share?
My husband teases that I never share my white chicken chili recipe. Everytime I serve it, he hears people ask me for the recipe, but it seems I have never produced it.
If you were stranded on a desert island with only one food, what would you choose?
Thin cut french fries with a parmesan aioli dipping sauce. Too specific?
How did you come up with your blog’s name?
I knew what I wanted my blog to focus on – how a foodie feeds a family. I tried to come up with a catchy name that encompassed a mom obsessed with food.
What are you passionate about besides food?
I should probably say my family, right? We’ll just assume that’s a given. But really, nothing beats the fervor I feel inside when I find a really great deal. I am a straight to the clearance rack type of girl.
What is your favorite food to make?
Birthday cakes. I love dreaming up insane cakes, making the flavors all work together, figuring out the perfect way to construct it so you still have something that resembles a cake, and not Dali’s melting clock at the end (been there…a lot).
What is your favorite thing to order when you are out to eat?
I’m a big fan of ordering a big fancy schmancy salad with a side of french fries (naturally).
Who are some of your favorite bloggers?
Pioneer Woman and Sally’s Baking Addiction were my original love affairs in the world of blogging. Since becoming a blogger myself, I have discovered so many more, like Recipe Tin Eats, Oh Sweet Basil, and the Bojon Gourmet. I’m inspired daily by so many others’ photography, writing, marketing savvy, and recipe ideas.
What are some of your favorite recipes on your blog?
My Slow Cooker Creamy Buffalo Chicken Chili, Light and Fluffy Gluten Free Biscuits, and Fluffy Flourless Banana Oat Pancakes are the recipes I make the most often in my house. However, I daydream the most about my Gigantic Little Debbie’s Oatmeal Cream Pie Cake. I wish could eat that thing weekly, but I’d have to find a lot more clearance racks for a bigger-sized wardrobe.
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing ever is being able to correspond with people all over the world. I love when people reach out to tell me they loved a story I shared or were blown away by a recipe. The comments and feedback are my fuel because blogging is a lot of time spent in front of my computer, inside my own head. It’s nice to know all that effort is reaching someone.
