I am really excited to introduce you to Marie from Sugar Salt Magic. She is a regular contributor here at YumGoggle and her recipes always make me hungry. The story about how the blog was named is a great one. Be careful of your sweet tooth when you visit her site. Mine grew three sizes the second I arrived!

How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
Sugar Salt Magic just turned 2 years old. I started because I’d been following other blogs and it looked fun. I love cooking and photography and it seemed like a perfect creative outlet.
Do you have a secret recipe you aren’t willing to share?
No way! I say share it with the world. Food is such a great way to get people together and create memories and if I think someone else could get as much joy from a recipe as I do, I will share it.
If you were stranded on a desert island with only one food, what would you choose?
Chicken – no ifs, buts or maybes. It’s just so versatile and healthy too and if I could order something specific it would be Hainanese Chicken Rice.
How did you come up with your blog’s name?
We actually held a little family cooking competition where each couple hosted a dinner party for the others and then we’d score each other’s meals. We used my hubbys and my first initials to come up with Salt & Magic for our restaurant name. When it came to the blog I loved our restaurant name but added Sugar to the start because I mostly like baking sweet treats.
What are you passionate about besides food?
Photography and animals. We have 3 little fur babies and I’d be lost without them.
What is your favorite food to make?
Definitely cupcakes, especially when piled high with frosting.
What is your favorite thing to order when you are out to eat?
Salt and pepper squid. I’ve even ordered it as a side in place of chips before and I’d do it again :)
Who are some of your favorite bloggers?
Lindsay from Pinch of Yum – she has such an amazing way with words and stunning photos that I could stare at for hours.
Trang from Wild Wild Whisk – more beautiful photography and her cooking is definitely my style of food.
Sally from Sally’s Baking Addiction – the first food blog I ever read and the one that made me want to give it a go. She makes some amazing creations and I also love that she includes the science behind how ingredients work together.
What are some of your favorite recipes on your blog?
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
I love that my recipes reach and resonate with other people. Sharing food is an expression of love, so it makes me feel warm and fuzzy when my readers tell me they’ve shared my recipes with their friends and family.
