I met Christie from A Kitchen Hoor’s Adventures in 2016 at a food conference. We became fast friends. Although we live 5 states apart we were able to visit in person when I was in the DC area not long ago. She has been helpful and supportive to me in so many ways. I hope you enjoy meeting her in this spotlight.
These Behind the Blog Blogger Spotlights are not only a great way to meet the bloggers but to hopefully find new blogs to enjoy and follow. Christie has written so many wonderful recipes on her blog, including many for macarons, and she is now also a contributor her at YumGoggle.

How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I started my blog in 2007. Initially, it was a recipe review blog. I wanted people to have an honest opinion of the recipes I tried. Several years later, I was asked by a cheese company (who’s name I can’t remember) to participate in a research study about cheese. I had to talk about cheese, answer questions about cheese, and make a recipe with cheese. That’s when I started writing and sharing my own recipes and not reviewing others.
Do you have a secret recipe you aren’t willing to share?
Not really. We have family recipes I just haven’t shared, but they’re not a secret.
If you were stranded on a desert island with only one food, what would you choose?
How did you come up with your blog’s name?
A friend and I were wandering through Macy’s She was looking for clothes. We rounded the corner and I stopped dead in my tracks at the kitchen gadget wall. She said, “You’re a kitchen whore.” Of course, you can’t write whore, so I had to change the spelling to hoor so it’s not banned as inappropriate.
What are you passionate about besides food?
Music, animals, knitting and crafts.
What is your favorite food to make?
It’s a toss up between LASAGNA and macaron. There’s nothing like that delicious meat and cheese between layers of pasta. And there’s nothing like seeing those feet form on those cookies. They’re both gratifying!
What is your favorite thing to order when you are out to eat?
Depends on the restaurant. Latin American it’s fajitas, Chinese it’s mu shu pork, Italian it’s LASAGNA, seafood it’s crab cake or seafood pasta.
Who are some of your favorite bloggers?
Ellen from Family Around the Table is one of my favorites. Cooking with Carlee is another favorite blogger of mine. They’re both super sweet people. I drool over Wimpy Vegetarian and Karen’s Kitchen Stories photos. Grumpy’s Honeybunch, Life Tastes Good, and Renee’s Kitchen Adventures all have beef recipes I drool over. There are many that I like for different reasons.
What are some of your favorite recipes on your blog?
Almost all of the macaron recipes are favorites. The milk braised pork loin is one that tastes amazing. Truly amazing. The Italian pho is so simple and delicious. It’s another one I love. And then there’s the strawberry tiramisu. OH my word that was mouth watering.
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
I have two favorites. One is the people that I meet and the other is hearing from readers who have made my recipe.
