Behind the Blogger Spotlight: That Skinny Chick Can Bake
Not only can she bake but she is an incredible photographer………..and yes, she IS skinny! She is very nice and one of the first women I met when I began blogging. She told me I could pick a photo from her Face Book page to put on this post and the moment I saw a photo of her with Joan, I just knew she wouldn’t mind if I used it. She’s got a great sense of humor and a picky eating husband just like me! Now, let’s get to know Liz.

How long have you been blogging?
I started in March of 2010, so about 5 ½ years.
Why do you blog?
It’s my creative outlet. I come from a family of artists and scientists. I can’t draw or paint like my mom and sisters, but I can make food pretty. I also have always loved to bake and share recipes, so I wanted to open up my audience to more than my small circle of friends and family.
How did you come up with the name of your blog?
I had no idea what I was doing, but I started checking what blog names were taken and everything I came up with was already in use. It finally dawned on me that many folks are shocked when they see me brining a decadent dessert to a party—especially when they find out I baked it myself. That Skinny Chick Can Bake explained me to a T.
What do you wish that you had done early on with your blog that you didn’t understand until later?
I wish I took a photography class so I wouldn’t have to cringe when I look back at my early blog posts. Also, I’ve been updating some old posts with more than one sentence of text and new photos! Knowing more about SEO is giving those old posts new life.
Do you have any advice for new bloggers?
Study what you like about your favorite blogs, read your camera manual so you know what you’re doing, and educate yourself on SEO.
What is your favorite recipe on your blog and why?
Probably my lattice topped raspberry pie. I struggle with pie crusts and this one turned out perfectly. Plus it was one fabulous tasting dessert!
Name a few of your favorite blogs:
- Cravings of a Lunatic,
- Baking a Moment,
- Hugs & Cookies XOXO,
- Buttercream Blondie…gosh, I have so many, I’m sure to leave out a favorite if I go on!
If you were a fruit or vegetable, which would it be and why?
A ripe peach because they’re so sweet and versatile.
Favorite band or singer?
I could never narrow it down to just one! Frank Sinatra, ELO, The Beatles, Maroon 5
Favorite movie?
Any old Hitchcock film like To Catch a Thief, North by Northwest.
Anything else you would like to share about your blog – please feel free to write as much or as little as you want!
