How long have you been blogging?
I’ve kept an online journal in some form or another since about 1995/1996. I started what is now my blog in 2004, though the focus became strictly food on 1 January 2010.
Why do you blog?
I’ve been writing and journaling since I was 8, and I still utilize a paper journal for my private thoughts. My blogging about food sort of started as a joke. I’d moved across the county in 2004, and kept the blog so that friends and family back home could see what I was up to. When my son was a toddler and started eating solid foods, I started doing a lot more cooking at home and baking. I started taking pictures and sharing those too. These days, I just tell people baking’s cheaper than therapy!
How did you come up with the name of your blog?
I met my husband online back in 1995–His screen name was Pretzel Boy, and mine was Tramplingrose, which is the title of a song by a band called Moonpools & Caterpillars. I just kind of stuck with it. I can’t recall where my tagline came from–I like to cook, I like to bake, and I do like to complain, so I combined them all!
What do you wish that you had done early on with your blog that you didn’t understand until later?
I wish I’d invested in a better camera sooner. I’ve been taking pictures since I was 6, but food is incredibly difficult to photograph. I have a good friend who’s got an art degree and is a professional photographer. She’s constantly giving me help and advice, and she says my blog pictures are good, so I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing!
Do you have any advice for new bloggers?
Something I need to take heed myself–It’s not a competition. I’m constantly reminding myself that everyone’s on a different path; we all have different abilities. Just do your best, and know there’s always more to learn, especially when it comes to photography and your camera. Learn to use your camera inside and out. Take it off the auto setting and just play around with it!
What is your favorite recipe on your blog and why?
Probably the Double Chocolate Iced Coffee. It’s my favorite because my son came up with that one evening, while playing restaurant. I thought it sounded good, so that weekend, we got the ingredients to make it, and I did a blog post about it. He thought it was the coolest thing ever, and I thought it was a mighty fine drink!

The ones I read on a regular basis are Savory Simple, Une Gamine Dans La Cuisine, Chocolate Moosey, The Cooking Actress, The Eat More Food Project. And of course, Adam at the Unorthodox Epicure is just a hoot!
If you were a fruit or vegetable, which would it be and why?
I think I’d be a potato. Heaven knows I eat enough of them, I could become one!
Favorite band or singer?
Raiders of the Lost Ark. I know that movie like the back of my hand. I wanted to be an archaeologist as a kid because of Indiana Jones.

My blog is a work in progress. My photography is also evolving, though I think I’ve found my styling “voice,” so to speak. Please don’t judge my early photos too harshly!!
